Consultancy to Document Success Stories (Photos and Videos) on the iHEARD Project Duration of task Location Reports to Start date Application deadline 1.5 months Remote Communications Specialist, FRI/ Project Delivery Lead 1st April 2026 13th March, 2026 \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ Background Since September 2021, Farm Radio International (FRI) has been implementing a five-year project entitled “Innovations in Health, Rights and Development (iHEARD) in Malawi” with a consortium of health, education and communication partners, led by CODE, a Canadian educational organisation. The project is working to dismantle barriers to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in Malawi, who are particularly vulnerable in terms of SRH and human rights violations. The project works in three main sectors: education, health services and communication. FRI is working with a group of communication organisations, internationally and in Malawi, bringing radio, mobiles and interactive voice response (IVR), social media and interpersonal communication into a coherent social and behaviour change communication (SBCC) program. Central to this work through the communication and the other 2 pillars is youth participation through the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) which operates at district levels (3) with a secretariat carrying representation of the executive members of the 3 district-based committees. The SBCC program, guided by a strategy document that was developed using a participatory approach in April 2022, has been running for about 4 years now. FRI has decided to engage the services of a consultant/consulting firm to document success stories emerging from the SBCC interventions delivered by the project. The assignment will involve production of high-quality photos and videos that can be shared with different audiences on social media. These photos and videos will concentrate on telling the stories of the project – showcasing individuals who have been impacted, and how the project has worked towards its goal. FRI would like to engage a communication consultant or firm for this purpose. This consultancy is expected to have three distinct phases: 1) Carry out photo and video shooting of selected individuals – program participants and stakeholder(s) from project sites; 2) Edit the photos and videos in to formats usable by FRI and other interested stakeholders such as consortium partners and Global Affairs Canada; 3) Edit several existing videos that were captured by project staff into usable formats. FRI staff and relevant iHEARD partners will be available to work with the consultant to identify video subjects, locations and stories. Main objective of the assignment This consultancy aims to document the success stories of individual program participants whose life trajectory has been impacted by the project’s interventions and the stories of the key stakeholders whose contributions to the delivery of iHEARD project have been influential. Specific objectives The consultancy has two main objectives: Objective 1: Carry out photo and video shooting of selected individuals – program participants and stakeholder(s) from project sites ● Together with iHEARD partners, select stories of interest from synopses provided. ● Align the stories selected to thematic areas of interest by the consortium ● Capture photos and videos from selected stories. Objective 2: Edit the photos and videos in to formats usable by FRI and other interested stakeholders such as consortium partners and Global Affairs Canada ● Select photos and videos that have reach content for publication. ● Edit photos and videos obtained from the field into formats usable by selected stakeholders within and outside the consortium. ● Design Prevention of Sexual Harassment, Exploitation and Abuse (PSHEA) awareness materials for staff and partners in Malawi, utilizing images and videos from the shoot ● Edit several existing videos that were captured by project staff into usable formats. Scope of Work The consultant will be expected to: Review of Synopses Review relevant synopses of stories provided by iHEARD partners and where necessary, advise the iHEARD team on strength of the story to qualify documentation. Develop and submit a story outline or filming plan that will include an agreed list of individuals, locations and narrative angle per story. Gather Photos and Videos With support from FRI and other iHEARD partner staff, gather photos and videos from the field to inform success stories. Editing Edit photos and videos into meaning story telling materials that can be published on various media including FRI’s social media handles into the following formats: - Photo format - The images should reflect the work done by the iHEARD project, with a focus on telling the story of a young person who is the subject matter.
