Description
The Dyslexia Alliance for Black Children is a collaborative non-profit led by parents, educators, and allies who seek to increase awareness of dyslexia and related learning disabilities, promote the identification of dyslexia, and increase access to research-based intervention for children who are historically underserved and under-identified.
The Part-Time Virtual Conference Manager will lead the operational execution of DABC’s annual virtual educator conference. This role is responsible for leading marketing efforts, obtaining sponsorships and vendors, and strategically promoting the conference to increase registration. This individual will also assist with live conference logistics.
This is a hands-on, results-oriented role ideal for someone experienced in virtual events, nonprofit conferences, or education-focused convenings.
Registration & Attendee Experience (in collaboration with conference team)
Track registration data, attendance, and ticket sales
- Support customer service inquiries related to sales and sponsorships
Marketing & Promotion (in collaboration with Executive Director)
- Co-design and lead the conference marketing plan (email, social media, partners)
- Track promotional timelines and deliverables
- Coordinate with DABC staff on messaging and outreach
- Monitor registration trends and adjust tactics as needed
Sponsorship Development & Management (in collaboration with Executive Director)
- Support identification and outreach to potential sponsors
- Manage sponsor tracking, commitments, and deliverables
- Coordinate sponsor benefits (logos, sessions, visibility)
- Ensure sponsor agreements are fulfilled
Reporting & Wrap-Up (in collaboration with conference team)
- Track revenue, expenses, and sponsorship income
- Provide post-conference summary report (attendance, revenue, lessons learned)

Qualifications -
Experience managing virtual conferences or large online events
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Comfortable tracking contracts, budgets, and timelines
- Experience with Zoom Events or similar platforms preferred
- Experience working with nonprofits, education, or advocacy organizations a plus
- Strong communication and follow-through
Compensation
$35 per hour for up to 100 - 120 hours across the term of the contract, which is expected to last 10 - 12 weeks. Revenue sharing of 5% on the amount of the previous year's conference and 10% sharing on the amount above the previous year's conference. More specifics on revenue sharing will be provided during the interview process.
