About the Role

As a Communications Specialist, Legal & Regulatory, you will be responsible for developing and executing policy-related communications strategies and outreach channels to effectively communicate with targeted audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and executing policy-related communications strategies and outreach channels including:
  • Press conferences
  • One-on-one meetings with media and opinion leaders
  • Press releases
  • Editorial board meetings
  • Social media
  • Building and maintaining positive working relationships with targeted journalists, editorial writers, columnists, and other opinion leaders
  • Researching and pitching experts for thought-leading speaking events and garnering, tracking, and marketing earned media exposure
  • Drafting opinion editorials, blogs, press releases, and other communications content with nuanced messaging under tight time constraints

Profile

What makes you a great fit

Required qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in environmental media and communications
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, communications, or marketing (advanced degree may substitute for two years of experience)
  • Proficiency with social media tools, Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and Internet required
  • Excellent writing, proofing, editing, telephone, oral communication, and presentation skills
  • Experience working on local and/or statewide press outreach and managing contractors
