Communications Officer - Lost Woods of the Low Weald and Downs

About the Role

The Communications Officer will be responsible for planning and delivering effective communications for the Lost Woods of the Low Weald and Downs project.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver communications for the Lost Woods of the Low Weald and Downs project, including creating and implementing the annual communications plan
• Create, edit, coordinate, and publish content across various channels (website, social media, press, print, and online marketing materials)
• Work with external suppliers to build and launch a new website, and plan and implement communications and marketing campaigns
• Maximize opportunities to promote NLHF's funding and support from National Lottery players through project communications

This role contributes to tackling environmental and climate issues by promoting woodland conservation and engaging communities in protecting, restoring, and creating essential woodland habitats.

Required skills and experience:

• Excellent digital skills including managing social media, website pages, and experience with content management systems
• Proven ability to plan, write, and edit copy for different audiences, with strong proofreading, copywriting, and editing skills
• Experience working with external suppliers (designers, film makers, web developers) and on partnership projects
• Experience in the not-for-profit and/or environment/conservation/heritage sectors, with experience handling media enquiries and generating regional press coverage
