Communications Generalist

Core responsibilities:

• Coordinating launches of new content, demos, press, and more
• Managing social media presence across platforms
• Working with creators, writers, contractors, and external partners to produce and distribute content
• Contributing to experiments to communicate AI risks to the general public
• Identifying and refining ideal customer profiles for our work
• Measuring results and iterating based on what we learn
• Amplifying capacity by implementing new tools, especially AI
• Building systems to turn successful experiments into scalable, repeatable processes

This role creates positive change by communicating AI risks to billions of people worldwide, helping build sufficient pressure for careful, conscientious development of AI rather than the current haphazard race.

Required skills and experience:

• Experience in communications, operations, partnerships, or a generalist role—ideally at a startup, nonprofit, or campaign
• Past experience communicating social issues to the public via campaigns, movements, social media, or other mass media
• Strong personal agency and ability to proactively initiate and persevere with projects
• Comfort wearing multiple hats beyond core responsibilities in a startup environment
• Strong opinions on what makes for good communication and what is missing from the discourse
• Deep alignment with CivAI's mission of helping the world better understand AI implications and risks

Compensation and perks:

• Salary range: $110,000 - $140,000
