Mission
What you will drive
As PauseAI Globalโs Communications Director, you will architect and lead our communications function - the central nervous system of our organization. You will develop our communication strategy, build scalable systems for information processing and content production, and empower our global network of volunteers and chapters to communicate effectively and on-message. You will lead the Communications Team and work closely with the PauseAI Global CEO and leadership team. You will be responsible to the PauseAI Global CEO. Tasks & Responsibilities: Strategic Planning: Develop and document PauseAIโs communication strategy, narrative frameworks, and editorial guidelines. Define messaging priorities and audience strategy, including how communications drives volunteer recruitment, growth, and activation. Systems Architecture: Design and implement our information processing pipeline - from monitoring AI news to synthesizing insights to producing content. Build scalable, documented processes. Team Leadership: Lead and grow the Communications Team. Create training materials and frameworks that empower volunteers and chapter leaders to be effective advocates. Content Standards: Produce high-quality content (written, visual, video) that demonstrates our strategy and sets standards for the organization. Chapter Support: Develop resources and frameworks that enable local chapters to communicate effectively while maintaining global message alignment. Measurement & Analytics: Establish metrics and KPIs for audience growth and engagement. Use data to iterate and improve our communication effectiveness. Media Relations: Coordinate press outreach, manage media relationships, and ensure our spokespeople (staff and volunteers) are prepared and on-message.

Profile
What makes you a great fit
Proven experience in strategic communications planning and execution, preferably in advocacy, nonprofit, or movement-building contexts. Systems thinking with ability to design scalable processes and frameworks. Strong team leadership with focus on capacity building and empowerment. Excellent content creation skills across formats (written, visual, video) with portfolio demonstrating high-quality output. Data-driven mindset with experience establishing and tracking communication metrics. Understanding of AI safety and governance; expertise not required, but must be a fast learner and support an international Pause treaty solution. Proactive and entrepreneurial. Able to build strategy from the ground up in a fast-moving environment. Experience with press relations and media strategy is a plus.
