Purpose

Take the lead on a range of digital communication activities, including CEEW’s social media handles, develop and execute a social media strategy, stay on top of digital media trends, and explore innovative means and multimedia to improve CEEW’s communications.

An ideal candidate should possess excellent storytelling and writing skills, knowledge of digital media, the ability to liaise with third-party vendors, and a good grasp of the dynamic environment in digital communications. The role requires quick coordination between various teams, researchers, and the CEO's office, with turnaround times equivalent to those in multimedia domains. The candidate should be solution-oriented, detail-oriented, and committed to meeting timelines. In addition to the duties and responsibilities below, the individual should be prepared to take on additional responsibilities as and when necessary.

Deliverables and Responsibilities

  • Social Media: Leading the day-to-day handling of CEEW’s LinkedIn, X, Instagram, and other future platforms. Assist in handling digital platforms of CEEW-GFC. Work closely with researchers, communications, and design teams to translate complex policy and research insights into visually engaging narratives. Maintain a social media calendar for all content and ensure timely delivery.

  • Strategy: Developing and executing customised social media strategies for LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram and any new other platform that CEEW leverages. Experiment with new video formats, data animations, interactive elements, and storytelling techniques to enhance audience engagement.

  • Analytics: Keep a monthly track of social media analytics and recommend improvements based on audience insights. Use analytics to refine storytelling approaches, engagement strategies, and content planning.

  • Design: Designing creatives (through Canva) for social media and other communications collateral. Ensure visual consistency and editorial integrity across all digital content.

  • Research: Stay up-to-date with social media/digital trends and emerging platforms. Brainstorm with the team on creative engagement ideas for digital media and work towards executing these.

  • Management: Onboard and coordinate with third-party vendors (designers, printers, photographer/videographer, digital agency, influencers) to ensure that collaterals are delivered as per timelines. Ensure quality control by reviewing and verifying technical quality, accuracy, and consistency across content before publishing.

  • Emailers: Assist in developing the institutional emailer and starting new properties

  • Events: Provide on-ground support for CEEW events when needed. Lead social media coverage of our events. Undertake photographic/audio-visual documentation of Life at CEEW and its events.

Other responsibilities

  • Support the Communications Associate and Outreach team in other tasks as and when required.

  • Onboard and manage interns as and when needed.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s/PG degree/Diploma/Certification in mass communications, journalism, public policy or any related field preferred.

  • A Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience in lieu of the Master’s degree will be considered.

Work experience and other skills

  • 2-4 years' experience in social media management, preferably in a social media agency, policy/research-driven or news-media environment.

  • Technical Expertise: Advanced skills in Canva are a must. Prior experience with social media management and analytics tools, such as Hootsuite, is required. Prior experience with email marketing tools such as Mailchimp is required.

  • Expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Figma is preferred. Knowledge of basic video editing (through tools such as Instagram Edits, Canva, etc) is desirable.

  • We welcome applications that explain how the candidate uses AI-assisted workflows for social media management.

  • Editorial Strength: Strong understanding of storytelling and scripting techniques and an ability to simplify complex topics for diverse audiences.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.

  • A keen eye for design, visuals, and emerging media trends.

  • Interest in sustainability issues and the ability to understand technical jargon will be an asset.

  • Good grasp of English and Hindi.
