Collections Specialist

Core responsibilities of the Collections Specialist:

• Contact customers via phone, fax, email, or standard letter to bring accounts to current status following standard operating procedures
• Monitor delinquent accounts via collector dashboard, prioritize tasks, and research customer inquiries related to billing concerns and misapplied payments
• Process payments from delinquent customers, negotiate payment arrangements or settlements, and accurately document actions taken on assigned accounts
• Initiate or process write-offs, bad debt recoveries, and credit memos in accordance with defined procedures and authority levels

This role supports Republic Services' environmental mission by ensuring efficient financial operations that enable the company to provide recycling, waste management, and environmental solutions services that advance circularity and support decarbonization efforts across North America.

Required qualifications and skills:

• Minimum 2 years of collections or relevant experience required
• High School diploma or GED as minimum education requirement
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of collections transactions and processes
• Ability to reconcile and apply customer payments, respond to departmental requests, and escalate complex matters appropriately

• Pay range: $19.90 to $27.32 per hour (annual equivalent: $41,392 to $56,825.60 based on 40 hours/week, 52 weeks/year)
