Collections Specialist

Core responsibilities for this Collections Specialist role:

• Contact customers via phone, fax, email or standard letter to bring accounts to current status following standard operating procedures
• Monitor delinquent accounts via collector dashboard, research customer inquiries, and escalate complex matters through appropriate channels
• Process payments from delinquent customers, negotiate payment arrangements/settlements, and initiate write-offs or bad debt recoveries
• Accurately document actions taken on assigned accounts and respond to requests from other departments including Sales, Customer Service, and Billing

This role supports Republic Services' environmental mission by ensuring efficient financial operations that enable the company to continue providing recycling, waste management, and environmental solutions services across North America.

Required qualifications and experience:

• 2 years of collections or relevant experience required
• High School diploma or GED
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of collections transactions and processes
• Ability to complete system assigned tasks within designated timeframes and reconcile customer payments
