How to Apply for Cloud Solution Architect

at HITACHI ENERGY

🏢 About HITACHI ENERGY

Hitachi Energy is at the forefront of advancing sustainable energy systems, with a mission to accelerate the transition to a carbon-neutral future. As part of Hitachi Vantara, you'll work on cloud platforms that power critical energy infrastructure, combining cutting-edge technology with a purpose-driven goal. The company offers a remote-first culture and a collaborative environment where innovation meets real-world impact.

About This Role

As a Cloud Solution Architect, you will design and evolve Hitachi Vantara's multi-cloud platform across AWS and GCP, ensuring security, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. This role is pivotal in enabling AI/ML initiatives by optimizing cloud environments for training and inference, while also establishing governance and best practices for cloud services. You'll mentor engineers and drive technical excellence, making a direct impact on the company's digital transformation.

💡 A Day in the Life

Your day starts with a stand-up with the cloud engineering team to review progress on landing zone deployments. You then dive into designing a new multi-cloud network topology, collaborating with security and AI/ML teams to ensure scalability. After lunch, you mentor a junior architect on Kubernetes best practices and end the day by evaluating cost reports to optimize cloud spend.

🎯 Who HITACHI ENERGY Is Looking For

  • A seasoned cloud architect with 10+ years of enterprise IT experience, including deep hands-on AWS expertise in organizations, landing zones, and control tower.
  • Expert in cloud networking (Transit Gateway, Shared VPCs, hybrid connectivity) and Kubernetes (EKS, ECS, GKE) with a focus on multi-cloud architectures.
  • Holds AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional and preferably GCP Professional Cloud Architect certification, with a strong understanding of cost optimization and security.
  • A mentor and leader who can guide engineers, establish operational standards, and drive cloud adoption across the organization.

📝 Tips for Applying to HITACHI ENERGY

1

Highlight specific AWS projects where you designed landing zones or implemented Service Control Policies, as these are critical to the role.

2

Quantify your experience with multi-cloud environments (e.g., 'Managed a hybrid cloud spanning AWS and GCP for 500+ workloads').

3

Mention any experience with AI/ML workloads in the cloud, such as setting up GPU clusters for training or optimizing inference pipelines.

4

Tailor your resume to emphasize governance and cost management, using terms like 'AWS Organizations,' 'Control Tower,' and 'cost allocation tags'.

5

Include your AWS and GCP certification IDs in your resume header to immediately catch the recruiter's eye.

✉️ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter

["Express passion for sustainable energy and how your cloud expertise can accelerate Hitachi Energy's mission toward carbon neutrality.", "Emphasize your experience with AWS landing zones and multi-cloud governance, directly linking it to the role's responsibilities.", 'Discuss your leadership in mentoring teams and driving best practices, as the role requires guiding engineers.', 'Mention any experience enabling AI/ML platforms, as this is a key initiative for the company.']

💬 Prepare for These Interview Topics

Based on this role, you may be asked about:

1 How would you design a multi-cloud landing zone on AWS and GCP with centralized governance?
2 Describe your experience with Kubernetes networking in a multi-cloud context (e.g., EKS and GKE interconnectivity).
3 How do you approach cost optimization across AWS and GCP while maintaining performance?
4 Walk me through a time you mentored a team to adopt cloud best practices and the outcomes.
5 How would you architect a cloud environment to support AI/ML training workflows with large datasets?

⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Applying without AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification – it's a hard requirement; ensure it's current.
  • Focusing only on technical skills without demonstrating experience in governance, cost management, or mentoring.
  • Ignoring the multi-cloud aspect – the role explicitly requires GCP experience, so highlight any GCP work even if minor.
