Mission

What you will drive

Core responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a decentralized organizing strategy to build a strong, inclusive, and effective local campaign focused on ending Canada's thermal coal exports
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers and grassroots leaders to engage in federal advocacy, including meetings with Members of Parliament, Ministers, and relevant partners
  • Coordinate volunteer activities such as lobby days, days of action, public mobilizations, and public town halls in support of federal policy change
  • Build and maintain an engaged volunteer organizing network in the Greater Vancouver area, with a particular focus on communities affected by coal transport and port expansion

Profile

What makes you a great fit

Required skills and experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in field, distributed, or digital organizing on political, environmental, or social justice campaigns
  • Experience recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers, including facilitation, coaching, one-on-one meetings, and leadership development
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, racial justice, Indigenous rights, and working in solidarity with impacted communities
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including storytelling, message development, and the ability to tailor communications to diverse audiences
  • Proven project management skills, including setting goals, managing timelines, and coordinating multiple workstreams
  • Experience working in coalitions with multiple stakeholders, including frontline, labor, and Indigenous partners
  • Familiarity with Canadian federal policy-making processes, including experience engaging with elected officials, submitting public comments, or tracking legislation and regulations
