Clara Marina O’Donnell fellowship for 2026-27

Core responsibilities:

• Carry out and publish original research projects on foreign, security, or defence policy
• Contribute to research projects of other colleagues at the Centre for European Reform
• Publish opinion pieces in major newspapers and contribute comments to international media outlets
• Participate in CER events and engage with influential policy-makers and analysts from across Europe

This fellowship provides early-career researchers with unique opportunities to influence European foreign policy debates through original research, media engagement, and direct interaction with policy-makers across Europe, Washington DC, and Brussels.

Required qualifications:

• Early-career researcher with completed undergraduate degree (Masters preferred)
• Strong interest in foreign, security, or defence policy
• Excellent research and writing skills
• Ability to work independently and contribute to team projects

Compensation and perks:

• Paid at London Living Wage (£14.80 per hour for 35-hour week)
• 8% pension contribution
• Expenses-paid week in Washington DC at Brookings Institution
• 2-3 weeks working in CER's Brussels office
