Chief of Staff

Core responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day operations across the organization and manage directors across functional areas
• Provide leadership and mentorship across the team, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability
• Lead and oversee various projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and aligned with strategic goals
• Partner with the CEO to develop and execute organizational strategy and create systems for institutional memory

This role plays a central role in solving California's housing crisis by implementing the most ambitious pro-housing agenda in California history—policy change that would improve the lives of tens of millions of people.

Required qualifications:

• Deep commitment to ending California's housing shortage
• Strong leadership and management skills with experience in goal setting and progress tracking
• Excellent communication skills—both written and interpersonal
• High emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and strong analytical skills including quantitative reasoning

Preferred qualifications:

• Knowledge of housing policy and California's housing challenges
• Experience passing legislation in California or comparable political/campaign experience

Compensation range: $135,000 to $150,000+ based on experience and performance. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, employer retirement contributions, and generous paid time off.
