Chief of Staff

Core responsibilities:

• Facilitate critical conversations and enable decisive decision-making among senior leaders to drive clarity and consensus
• Serve as an "air traffic controller" to manage information flow across departments and keep staff aligned and informed
• Work closely with institutional strengthening directors to ensure operational effectiveness and efficiency
• Drive FairVote's financial strategy, oversee budgeting, and ensure operational efficiency while cultivating positive culture

This role creates positive change by strengthening FairVote's organizational capacity to achieve ambitious electoral reform goals, including expanding ranked-choice voting to millions more voters and winning proportional representation reforms that create a more representative democracy.

Required qualifications:

• Experience as Chief of Staff or similar role reporting directly to CEO/C-Suite executive
• Background in nonprofit, advocacy, or mission-driven organizations
• Expertise in project management, organizational operations, budgeting, and resource allocation
• Skilled facilitator with experience building consensus among senior leaders and managing teams
• Strong analytical ability to interpret data and define success metrics
• Exceptional communication skills with ability to craft persuasive messages for diverse audiences

FairVote offers a competitive benefits package for all full-time employees. The salary range for this position is $160,000 - $180,000, with the higher end of the range for candidates exceeding qualifications.
