Mission
What you will drive
Core responsibilities:
- Process Development: Play a vital role in developing the next generation of Direct Air Capture technology by modeling, validating, and optimizing the carbon capture process.
- CFD Analysis: Perform CFD analysis to predict and optimize air flow across systems at various scales, from small-scale filter structures to large-scale atmospheric dispersion modeling.
- Collaboration with Mechanical Design: Work closely with mechanical design colleagues to contribute to the design of new structures, vessels, and plant architectures, providing pressure, velocity, and other boundary conditions.
- Model Development: Drive the improvement roadmap for CFD models by developing new techniques to enhance simulation accuracy and applicability.
- Validation & Measurement: Plan, execute, and evaluate validation measurements to ensure models are robust and well-calibrated.
- Communication & Presentation: Clearly communicate results, findings, and observations to peers and present them in technical reviews.

Profile
What makes you a great fit
Required skills and experience:
- Experience & Expertise: At least 5 years of experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics as a process, mechanical, or aerospace engineer with a strong technical background in thermodynamics, porous media, airflow, and/or thermal energy modeling.
- Technical Proficiency: Proven experience in running CFD simulations and a solid understanding of fluid mechanics, with experience evaluating the behavior of complex gas phase systems.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in Ansys Fluent/CFX and geometry meshing tools (Workbench, Fluent Mesher, Discovery, Space Claim, etc.).
- Collaboration & Working Style: Proactive, innovative, and collaborative, able to work across disciplines and support others, with a willingness to take risks and try new things.
- Language Skills: English proficiency, as it is the working language at Climeworks.
