What We're Looking For:

The Business Development Manager - MX is responsible to lead the development of Smardt’s presence in the country. This role is responsible for building Smardt’s market access infrastructure, including distributor partnerships, engineering relationships, and a qualified project pipeline. 



The position is focused on market development and channel creation, not traditional direct sales. 



What You'll Do:

Market Entry & Strategy 

Execute Smardt’s Mexico market entry strategy and build the company’s commercial presence. 

Focus early development on priority markets including Mexico City, Monterrey, GuadalajaraQueretaro and Yucatan peninsula, followed by additional high-growth regions. 

Identify opportunities in high-value verticals including data centers, pharmaceuticals, hospitals, hospitality, and industrial facilities. 

 

Distributor & Channel Development (Primary KPI) 

Identify, recruit, and onboard strategic HVAC distributors across Mexico. 

Build a scalable channel network capable of representing Smardt’s premium technology. 

Establish partner agreements and enable distributors through technical training and project support. 

Ensure partners meet Smardt standards for technical capability, service readiness, and market coverage. 

 

Engineering & Specifier Engagement 

Develop relationships with consulting engineers and design firms that influence equipment specifications. 

Position Smardt chillers within Base of Design specifications for key projects. 

Deliver technical presentations and participate in engineering forums. 

 

Strategic Industry Presence 

Represent Smardt in the Mexican HVAC market through industry associations and trade events. 

Build relationships with key organizations such as ASHRAE, HARDI, ANDIRA, and BOMA. 

Position Smardt as a premium, high-efficiency alternative to conventional chiller technology. 

 

Pipeline Development 

Work with distributors, contractors, and engineers to build a qualified project pipeline. 

Support early-stage project positioning and technical presentations. 

Assist in securing Smardt’s first reference project in Mexico, establishing a foundation for long-term growth. 

 

Key Performance Indicators 

Success in this role will be measured by: 

  • Number of qualified distributors recruited and activated 
  • Geographic coverage of the distributor network 
  • Engineering specification wins 
  • Qualified project pipeline development 
  • Successful launch of Smardt’s first major project in Mexico 



What You'll Bring:

Experience

  • 7–10+ years of experience in the HVAC industry, industrial equipment, or building systems.
  • Proven experience developing distributor networks and executing market entry strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of the Mexican HVAC ecosystem, including engineering firms, contractors, and distributors.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with industry stakeholders.
  • Experience working in technical-commercial environments within the mechanical or building systems sector.
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout Mexico to support business development and customer engagement.


Education / Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field required.
  • Additional certifications in HVAC systems, mechanical engineering, or sales/business development are considered an asset.


Technical Skills

  • Solid understanding of HVAC systems, chiller technologies, and building mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of distribution models and channel development within the HVAC industry.
  • Ability to analyze market opportunities and develop regional go-to-market strategies.
  • Familiarity with commercial sales processes, technical proposals, and solution-based selling.
  • Strong proficiency with CRM tools and sales pipeline management.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.
