Back End Engineer (Spain, Portugal, UK)

Core responsibilities:

• Design and develop cross-functional, multi-platform application systems to ingest, process, analyze, and serve large amounts of data in the cloud, often in real-time
• Ensure software craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of backend systems
• Take the lead in client meetings to define requirements and propose technical solutions
• Liaise with data scientists, front-end engineers, project managers, and designers to find creative technical solutions

This role creates positive change by developing data-driven tools and applications that empower people to make positive changes for a fair and sustainable planet, working on projects focused on climate change, biodiversity, and inequality.

Required skills and experience:

• Proficiency in NodeJS/TypeScript with experience in backend development
• Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, including proficiency in SQL
• Experience with Docker or container technologies for development and production
• Experience with cloud infrastructure setup and infrastructure as code (Terraform)
• Proficiency in writing automated tests and maintaining good documentation

Compensation and perks:

• Salary range: €30,000 - €49,000 depending on experience
