About Basis Climate
Basis Climate is a leading clean energy investment platform specializing in the transfer of Investment Tax Credits (ITC), Production Tax Credits (PTC), 45Z clean fuel credits, and advanced manufacturing credits (45X). We facilitate mid-market transactions from $250k–$100m, combining AI-enabled diligence tools with innovative insurance products developed in partnership with leading global insurers.
Our product offerings expanded in 2025 to include placement of preferred equity and holdco debt into distributed generation facilities, in partnership with a leading private equity energy infrastructure investor.
Our mission is to accelerate the energy transition by making capital deployment and tax credit transactions faster, more efficient, and more accessible. We work directly with Fortune 500 tax directors, treasurers, and CFOs to help them unlock value from clean energy investments while achieving their sustainability objectives.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a creative, entrepreneurial Analyst to join our growing team and play a hands-on role across tax credit transactions, market expansion, and the development of AI-enabled products. This is not a traditional analyst seat—you will operate with significant autonomy, take ownership of workstreams from day one, and directly shape how Basis Climate builds and deploys technology to win in a rapidly evolving market.
The transferable tax credit market represents a multi-billion dollar opportunity created by the Inflation Reduction Act. As the market matures and new credit types emerge, we need resourceful, self-starting team members who can identify opportunities others miss and move fast to capture them.
If you are energized by the intersection of clean energy, finance, and technology—and want to build things that matter—this role is for you.
What You’ll Do
Transaction Execution & Market Coverage
Support origination, structuring, and execution of tax credit transfer transactions across ITC, PTC, 45Z, 45X, and emerging credit types
Conduct financial analysis, credit assessment, and due diligence on clean energy projects and corporate tax credit buyers
Prepare transaction materials including teasers, memos, pricing models, and client presentations
Help build and maintain relationships with corporate taxpayers, developers, family offices, and institutional investors
AI-Enabled Product Development & Innovation
Creatively implement and expand Basis Climate’s AI-powered diligence, underwriting, and market intelligence tools—finding new ways to automate workflows and surface insights
Identify opportunities to apply AI and data to new product lines, buyer segments, and market expansion strategies
Prototype and test new product ideas, working cross-functionally with engineering, insurance, and transaction teams
Stay ahead of developments in AI/ML, fintech, and climate tech and bring actionable ideas to the team
Market Intelligence & Strategy
Monitor and analyze market trends, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics in the tax credit transfer space
Develop thought leadership content, market research, and data-driven insights that support go-to-market efforts
Contribute to strategic planning for new geographies, credit types, and buyer/seller segments
Platform & Process Building
Help systematize and improve internal processes—from deal pipeline tracking to client onboarding to reporting
Represent Basis Climate at industry conferences and networking events
Collaborate with senior team members on preferred equity placements, asset management, and capital formation strategies
Who You Are
1–3 years of experience in renewable energy, project finance, investment banking, tax, consulting, or a high-growth startup—or a standout recent graduate with relevant internships and demonstrated initiative
Creative problem solver who gets excited about building new products, finding unconventional approaches, and experimenting with AI tools to drive results
Self-starter with high ownership mentality—you don’t wait to be told what to do, you figure it out and execute
Strong analytical skills: comfortable with financial modeling, data analysis, and translating complex information into clear recommendations
Excellent written and verbal communication—you can distill technical tax and energy concepts for a broad audience
Genuine interest in clean energy, climate tech, and the role of policy in shaping markets
Entrepreneurial mindset: comfortable with ambiguity, fast iteration, and wearing multiple hats in a lean team
High ethical standards and a team-first attitude
Must be based in the Americas time zones. In-person collaboration in New York, San Francisco, or Chicago is strongly preferred
Nice to Have
Hands-on experience with AI/ML tools, automation platforms, or building data-driven workflows (e.g., LLMs, no-code/low-code tools, Python/SQL for analysis)
Familiarity with IRA tax incentives, transferability mechanics, tax equity, or energy project finance
Experience at a Big Four firm, bank tax equity group, renewable energy developer, or climate-focused startup
CPA candidacy, JD, MBA, or relevant advanced degree in progress or completed
Proficiency in Spanish or other languages
Existing network in clean energy, corporate tax, or venture/startup communities
What We Offer
Competitive Salary: Market-rate compensation with performance-based bonus potential
Equity: Meaningful equity stake in a high-growth company at an inflection point
Growth: Accelerated development path in a lean team where your work has outsized impact—this is a company changing how transactions get done

Why Basis Climate
The transferable tax credit market is at an inflection point: the market has already facilitated more than $100 billion in clean energy investment, and transactions continue to grow in scale and sophistication. Corporate taxpayers are increasingly recognizing the strategic value of tax credit purchases, but many lack the expertise and relationships to navigate this emerging market.
Basis Climate is capturing this opportunity in ways our competitors are not. Our core focus on standardization, simplification, and risk mitigation—supported by deep market expertise, AI-powered diligence tools, and innovative insurance products—enables us to serve the mid-market segment that larger competitors often overlook. Faster, more agile, and ready to execute.
We are building at the intersection of finance, technology, and climate impact. If you want to work somewhere your ideas and initiative actually shape the company’s trajectory, this is the place.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should submit a resume and a brief note on why this role excites you and what you’d bring to Basis Climate. We value creativity, initiative, and a builder’s mindset—show us how you think.
We are committed to building a diverse team and encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
