What you will drive

Core responsibilities:

  • Conduct research at the intersection of machine learning and biology in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team of scientists
  • Experiment with large datasets and novel techniques to advance the state-of-the-art in machine learning
  • Communicate research work to a multi-disciplinary audience, both internally and externally
  • Work on fundamental problems in machine learning for biology and chemistry, potentially including generative models for biomolecular design, long-context techniques, mechanistic interpretability for protein folding models, or NLP and agentic systems

Profile

What makes you a great fit

Required qualifications:

  • Current PhD student in Computer Science, Computational Biology, or related field
  • Experience with machine learning research and applications to problems in Biology and/or Chemistry
  • Fluency in Python and experience implementing ML methods with standard tools and packages (e.g., PyTorch, JAX)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Publications in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computational Biology or similar computational field
  • Experience with large, high-dimensional datasets
  • Experience with generative models, natural language processing, graphical neural networks, reinforcement learning, or similar
  • Familiarity with software development, including git and public cloud computing resources (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)

The pay range for this role is $50 - $75 per hour. This is a short-term engagement that is not eligible for health and welfare benefits. Retirement benefits may be available after completing a set number of hours.
