AI Policy Lead - J-PAL Global

• Lead J-PAL's "AI for Social Good" initiatives and manage the global AI portfolio focusing on evaluating and scaling transformative AI applications in development programs
• Anchor high-level partnerships with tech-focused funders, AI labs, and international organizations to expand J-PAL's influence in the AI for social good ecosystem
• Identify and secure funding specifically for AI-related research and policy initiatives, stewarding donors to expand J-PAL's capacity to evaluate emerging technologies
• Manage and oversee 3-4 staff members, providing coaching, mentoring, and performing recruitment duties including representing J-PAL at job fairs and conferences

This role ensures that AI and machine learning technologies are evidence-based and responsible in international development, translating research into actionable poverty alleviation policies that use AI for social good.

• Master's degree in economics, public policy or international development with significant training in economics; training in computer science, machine learning, or AI topics is a plus
• Minimum 8 years work experience including experience in randomized evaluations, economics research, and international development policy
• Proven ability to multitask and complete projects on tight deadlines with little supervision, with excellent writing skills and attention to detail
• Experience working with teams, including leading and managing teams, with comfort and expertise in public speaking to represent J-PAL at conferences
