Mission

What you will drive

Core responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance to farmers in the Midwest for adopting and expanding agroforestry practices, including designing plantings and advising on implementation, management, and succession
  • Support established agroforestry systems through site visits, troubleshooting, and connecting farmers to technical and business resources
  • Facilitate an on-farm research project examining tree-root inoculation effects on plant and soil health in new agroforestry plantings
  • Serve as a bridge between Technical Assistance Provider, Partner Farm, and Ecosystem Science teams while coordinating with farmers and stakeholders

What makes you a great fit

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in agriculture or forestry-related field
  • Direct on-farm experience with agroforestry, forestry, rotational grazing, or related agricultural practices
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for maintaining long-term farmer relationships and cross-program coordination
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for work-related travel

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with planting and managing trees and shrubs
  • Experience with Farm Bill programs or other farmer support programs
  • Experience with GIS or equivalent tools
  • Experience working autonomously with accountability
