How to Apply for Account Executive

at HITACHI ENERGY

๐Ÿข About HITACHI ENERGY

Hitachi Vantara is the data foundation trusted by the worldโ€™s innovators, offering resilient, high-performance data infrastructure that empowers businesses to automate, optimize, and innovate. As part of Hitachi Energy, you'll contribute to advancing sustainable energy systems towards a carbon-neutral future, working with cutting-edge technology that powers iconic projects like the Las Vegas Sphere.

About This Role

As an Account Executive, you'll be a hunter responsible for building deep relationships with clients across various industries, understanding their challenges, and delivering profitable business through Hitachi's products, services, and solutions. This role is impactful because you'll directly drive revenue growth while helping customers achieve incredible results with their data.

๐Ÿ’ก A Day in the Life

A typical day involves prospecting new clients through calls and emails, meeting with potential customers to understand their data challenges, and presenting tailored solutions. You'll also collaborate with internal teams (pre-sales, marketing) to craft proposals, and follow up on existing opportunities to close deals.

๐ŸŽฏ Who HITACHI ENERGY Is Looking For

  • Currently resides in Chicago (mandatory requirement).
  • Has complex data center and/or storage selling experience (mandatory).
  • Is an energetic, motivated hunter with strong prospecting and closing skills.
  • Possesses deep understanding of data infrastructure and storage solutions, with ability to articulate value proposition to C-level executives.

๐Ÿ“ Tips for Applying to HITACHI ENERGY

1

Explicitly state your Chicago residency in your resume or cover letter to meet the mandatory requirement.

2

Highlight specific examples of complex data center or storage deals you've closed, including deal size and customer outcomes.

3

Tailor your resume to emphasize hunting experience and new business development, not just account management.

4

Mention any familiarity with Hitachi Vantara's product portfolio (e.g., VSP storage, UCP converged infrastructure) to show preparedness.

5

If you have experience selling to industries like banking, theme parks, or other data-intensive sectors, call that out.

โœ‰๏ธ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter

['Emphasize your Chicago residency and how it enables you to serve local clients effectively.', 'Showcase your track record in complex data center/storage sales with quantifiable results.', 'Demonstrate your hunter mentality and ability to build relationships from scratch.', "Align your passion with Hitachi's mission of advancing sustainable energy and data innovation."]

๐Ÿ’ฌ Prepare for These Interview Topics

Based on this role, you may be asked about:

1 Describe a complex data center/storage deal you closed from prospecting to close. What was your strategy?
2 How do you approach hunting in a new territory or industry? Walk us through your process.
3 How do you articulate the value of Hitachi's data infrastructure solutions compared to competitors like Dell EMC or NetApp?
4 Give an example of a time you built a relationship with a C-level executive and how it led to a sale.
5 Why are you interested in Hitachi Vantara specifically, and how do you see our role in sustainable energy?
