Chief WASH

Core responsibilities:

• Manage and supervise all stages of the WASH programme from strategic planning and formulation to delivery of outcome and output results
• Lead and manage the CO WASH team, ensuring results are achieved according to plans, allocations, and UNICEF's Strategic Plan
• Provide advisory services and technical support for WASH-related programmes
• Lead humanitarian WASH preparedness and response efforts

This role ensures children in Papua New Guinea have access to safe drinking water and proper sanitation, addressing widespread poverty and gender inequality to help children realize their rights through both government-level and grassroots WASH programmes.

Required qualifications:

• Advanced university degree in public health, social sciences, behavior change communication, sanitary engineering or another relevant technical field
• At least 8 years of relevant work experience in WASH-related programmes for developing countries
• One year of deployment in a developing country and at least one year of work in humanitarian situations
• Fluency in English required; knowledge of another UN language or local language is an asset
