Software Engineer "Spontaneous Application”

Core responsibilities for Software Engineers at Vizzuality:

• Work with agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full stack of development tools and technologies
• Liaise with data scientists, engineers, project managers, and designers to find novel technical solutions that integrate disparate technologies like remote sensing and machine learning into public APIs
• Ensure software quality, robustness, and compliance with standards through code reviews, documentation, and automated testing
• Prototype solutions using new technologies to push boundaries in capacity, speed, and functionality

Required skills and experiences for Software Engineers:

• Hands-on expertise in disparate technologies across front-end and back-end systems, with skills in JavaScript, NodeJS, Ruby, Rails, and/or Python
• Knowledge of graph theory, GIS awareness, and databases like PostgreSQL
• Experience with cloud-based server solutions like AWS or GCP for API development or DevOps
• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices including coding standards, code reviews, source control, testing, and deployments
• Excellent teamwork, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Passionate about learning and sharing new technologies with a continuous learning mindset
• Interest in solving environmental and social issues
• Fluent English (applications must be in English)
