Software Engineer

• Actively participate in creating a positive impact on the lives of smallholder farmers through technology
• Develop and maintain effective, scalable systems using Scala and Python
• Embrace a "product engineer" mindset, balancing ideal architecture with the realities of a fast-paced startup environment
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of impactful features

This role helps develop technology that enables the distribution of high-quality agricultural inputs to tens of thousands of smallholder farmers annually, transforming their livelihoods and increasing farm profits sustainably.

• Have a solid background in writing software at scale, preferably using Scala or another high-level, statically typed language
• Have knowledge of cloud computing fundamentals, preferably AWS
• Have production experience with SQL databases, including data modeling, writing performant queries, etc.
• Are an exceptional writer and communicator who can turn technical challenges into digestible technical documents
• Are a creative problem solver excited to innovate where technology doesn't work as usual (e.g., poor cell coverage, limited mobile hardware)
