Senior Software Engineer, Routing

The Routing Team crafts vital services that ensure Nuro Driver™ reaches destinations safely and efficiently. We continuously refine our routing engine to calculate more efficient routes, deliver highly accurate ETAs, and manage scalable traffic for every journey, adapting as our business / geolocation expands and mapping infrastructure evolves.

• You will work on building and scaling both the backend systems and onboard modules for the Routing team. This includes everything from designing microservices, optimizing our routing algorithms, understanding road network graphs, building monitoring and analytics infrastructure, optimizing our deployment pipeline, and more.
• You will work with product, strategy, and operations teams to design and build new, magical user experiences, and define our product strategy and roadmap.

This role contributes to making autonomy accessible to all by developing routing services that ensure Nuro Driver™ reaches destinations safely and efficiently, empowering a safer, richer, and more connected future.

• Technical excellence: At least 3-5 years of building and scaling realtime server-side applications, experience with large-scale complex algorithm problems, proficiency in C++ programming, knowledge of various databases and storage technologies, experience with RPC frameworks and pubsub systems, experience with ML models, extensive experience with cloud providers, and experience with Docker & Kubernetes.
• You have a wide-range of technical skills, love learning new technologies, and are a quick learner.
• You have a passion for making lives easier for developers and enjoy working on tooling for troubleshooting, debugging, and profiling applications.
• You have the knack for making the right tradeoffs between quick-and-dirty and scalable approaches.
• You care about users and like to work closely with product and design to build the best product.
• You are a great communicator and regularly chat with PMs, UXRs, other engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• You are impact-driven and care deeply that your work makes a significant impact on the lives of millions of people.

For this position, the reasonably expected base pay range is between $176,400 and $264,600. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
