Senior R&D Design Engineer

• Facilitate prioritization of technical solutions, designs, and innovations while maintaining project focus for customers across Product Development, Commercial, and R&D departments.
• Contribute individually and participate in team design and development projects from early-stage prototypes to production release, including testing, documentation, and sales support.
• Execute R&D thermoforming, slit and fold, and capping projects to support new process/product development and material testing.
• Supply and review engineering designs and documentation while supporting development of new materials or part requirements for domestic and international customers.

This role supports Origin's effort to reduce carbon footprint and sustainability by developing sustainable materials that can replace petroleum-based materials in various products, contributing to the world's transition to sustainable materials.

• BS Degree in Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field (MS preferred) with 5-7 years of design experience and 3-5 years in polymer processing/synthesis.
• Expertise in CAD (SolidWorks) and other design software, hands-on laboratory skills, and knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes.
• Advanced mathematics knowledge, computer literacy, data analysis skills, and simulation knowledge including FEM.
• Publication-quality communication skills for internal/external documents, provisional patents, and presentations with strong problem-solving abilities.
