Senior Manager External Relations

Core responsibilities:

• Develop and implement GiveDirectly's government and external outreach strategy to create awareness and increase political/policy buy-in for cash transfers in Malawi
• Manage national and local government relations, securing approvals for program expansion and ensuring compliance with government guidance
• Lead external and media relations, crafting messaging, managing media relationships, and monitoring social media for organizational reputation
• Oversee program design and implementation, working with teams to create evidence-based cash programs aligned with national development priorities

This role accelerates the end of extreme poverty by increasing political and policy support for cash transfers in Malawi, which provide direct financial assistance to the world's poorest people and establish cash as the benchmark for effective foreign aid.

Required qualifications:

• 5-7 years experience in the development sector with demonstrated success in high-performance environments
• Detailed understanding and experience working with national level government officials in Malawi, including knowledge of government policies and priorities
• Demonstrated experience in resource mobilization, preferably with key donors such as USAID and FCDO
• Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal in English, preferably also Chichewa), organizational, and analytical abilities
