Senior DevOps Engineer (Application Operations & Automation)

Core responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary administrator for scientific computing stack (POSIT), leading upgrades, managing R/Python libraries, and optimizing performance for research teams
• Use Workato to build and maintain robust integrations between enterprise tools, architecting automated business logic
• Engineer custom workflows and modules in ServiceNow, operationalizing day-to-day technical administration including configuration, scripting, and maintaining system health
• Leverage GKE (Kubernetes) and Terraform to treat applications as code, ensuring repeatable, scalable, and secure application deployments
• Act as bridge between Data Scientists, HR, and Finance teams to translate software needs into technical reality

This role enables Recursion to decode biology by running experiments at scale from conception through execution, contributing to the company's mission of radically improving lives through biological discovery and medicine advancement.

Required skills and experience:

• 5+ years of experience in enterprise application administration with proven experience managing POSIT, ServiceNow, or Workato
• Experience with Workato or similar iPaaS platforms (MuleSoft/Tray.io) to automate workflows and sync data across systems
• Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes (GKE) and Terraform, comfortable deploying applications into containerized environments
• Familiarity with ServiceNow data model, ITSM modules, and platform maintenance
• Service orientation with problem-solving mindset focused on helping users as primary customers
