Security Engineer

Core responsibilities:

• Assess, design, and justify the effectiveness of site security at facilities possessing special nuclear material
• Develop justification of control measures that provide adequate assurance of protection against security challenges
• Navigate U.S. nuclear regulations and guidance to produce defensible security plans for complex challenges
• Collaborate within the engineering organization and understand system interdependencies across nuclear facilities

This role contributes to clean energy advancement by ensuring security for nuclear facilities that deliver reliable, affordable energy at scale, helping establish domestic supply chains for critical radioisotopes and advancing nuclear fuel recycling to convert waste into clean energy.

Required skills and qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or similar technical experience
• Familiarity with firearms, explosives, tactical equipment, and regulatory compliance (10 CFR 73, 10 CFR 70, NRC guides)
• Experience with national threat policy and ability to maintain access to safeguards information
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams

Compensation and benefits:

• Salary: $70,000-$150,000 (dependent on experience)
