Research Scientist

Core responsibilities:

• Advance invertebrate welfare science through research, knowledge synthesis, and community building
• Create a comprehensive husbandry database documenting care practices for research and captive invertebrate populations
• Produce peer-reviewed syntheses on welfare topics including anesthesia, enrichment, and humane endpoints
• Develop classroom-ready materials introducing welfare concepts for laboratory and field contexts
• Manage the Early Career Committee and document annual research trends in invertebrate welfare

This role creates positive change by advancing scientific understanding of invertebrate welfare, improving care practices for captive populations, and building a community of researchers focused on reducing suffering in understudied animal groups.

Required skills and qualifications:

• Research experience in animal welfare, biology, or related fields
