R&D Senior Software Engineer

• Design, develop, review, refactor, and maintain Power System software with quality and performance in mind, analyzing customer engineering, business, and software requirements to propose effective solutions.
• Collaborate on planning, development, and testing to meet definition of done criteria, supporting software releases and assisting onsite/support teams with problem analysis and defect resolution.
• Identify and manage risks for schedule and quality, support and mentor junior developers, and use agile development methodologies with active participation in all team duties.
• Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines, while living Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity.

• Master's degree or foreign equivalent with emphasis on Power System and software skills (Ph.D. is a plus), with at least 5 years of experience in Power System software development, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Demonstrated programming skills in high-performance languages such as C, FORTRAN, or C++, with strong knowledge of power system modeling, simulation, analysis, operation, optimization, and numerical analysis methodology.
• Familiarity with Automatic Generation Control, Economic Dispatch, Load Flow, Contingency Analysis, State Estimation, and Power Systems Simulators is desirable, along with hands-on experience in Generation Control, EMS applications, Network analysis, or Operator Training Simulator.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an Agile environment, with effective interaction skills with team members, product management, and customers, and proficiency in spoken and written English.
