Operations Assistant

Core responsibilities:

• Provide essential administrative support to enable smooth day-to-day functioning of the organization
• Support internal systems management, administrative coordination, staff and board event logistics, and general operational processes
• Ensure staff have necessary equipment and materials, monitor organizational email inbox, and support onboarding/offboarding processes
• Lead staff appreciation events and assist with event planning for staff and board retreats

This role supports the Center's mission to create a transparent and equitable food system by enabling smooth organizational operations, allowing the team to focus on helping major institutions adopt values-based food purchasing that benefits people, animals, and the environment.

Required qualifications:

• Experience with administrative responsibilities or related work experience
• High level of organization with ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening and effective written communication
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual environment with a remote team
• Willingness to travel domestically (estimated twice per year)
• Demonstrated commitment to social, environmental, racial, and economic equity

Compensation and benefits:

• Hourly rate of $29 (part-time, 20 hours/week)
