Economist

• Develop models of NYISO markets and market mechanisms to provide an economic lens for reliability and market design decision making
• Develop and advance recommendations to enhance the NYISO markets by analyzing data in the context of theoretical frameworks
• Evaluate market design proposals from regulators, stakeholders, and policy makers to guide the NYISO's market design process
• Represent NYISO in industry forums and conferences as an independent, unbiased source of information on wholesale market design

This role helps shape the future structure of New York's wholesale electricity markets, developing innovative market designs that align reliability, economic efficiency, and public policy goals to support New York electric grid reliability and market evolution.

• Bachelor's Degree in Economics or related field required; Master's degree preferred; Doctorate strongly beneficial
• Five years' related experience in electric power utility industry, competitive markets, market operations, or market economics
• Thorough knowledge of statistical and econometric techniques and principles of economic theory (marginalism, game theory, efficient-market hypothesis)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with competency in MS Office applications

The NYISO offers competitive salaries, a comprehensive benefits package, and innovative reward programs. The salary range for this position is $89,600 - $149,400 USD annually.
