Head of Communications

Core responsibilities:

• Design and execute Zanskar's communication strategy, working closely with co-founders and team leads to craft multi-audience communications
• Utilize modern social media channels and manage external PR firms to connect Zanskar's work with mainstream and local media
• Create engaging content from field work imagery (photos, videos of geologic data collection, drilling rigs, power plants) to inspire excitement for geothermal power
• Establish measurement frameworks and metrics to track comms impact on business objectives like recruiting, fundraising, and regulatory reform

This role creates positive change by communicating Zanskar's success in geothermal exploration, helping unlock a critical clean energy source with minimal environmental impact, and driving narratives that position geothermal as a key energy source for a carbon-free future.

Required skills and qualifications:

• Proven record of engaging communications work (viral social media, startup PR, modern media understanding)
• Experience managing internal/external teams producing photography, video content, or writing
• Ability to communicate complex energy policy, geology, and scientific principles into simple, impactful messages
• Established media relationships in business, technology, and energy sectors, or ability to manage PR firms
• Proven comms coaching ability and trustworthy ghost/copywriting skills
