Director of Finance

Core responsibilities:

• Overall financial management of Sunrise Inc including financial analysis, reporting, forecasting, budgeting, cash flow, audit and management of external service providers
• Work with COO and Board committees to oversee cash flow and investment decisions, ensuring alignment with policies while optimizing returns
• Develop, implement, and monitor Sunrise's financial strategy to minimize environmental footprint and ensure operations align with organizational mission and values
• Manage, guide and nurture a vibrant and inclusive team culture while supporting team members to unleash their potential

This role contributes to scaling social movements and accelerating the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy by ensuring financial sustainability and resilience for climate justice initiatives.

Required skills and experience:

• Previous substantial experience in a senior finance management position within a complex multi-disciplinary organization (preference for philanthropy/grant-making sector)
• CPA certification or equivalent membership of a professional accounting body
• Deep understanding of compliance obligations in the US (501c3 charities), with added value in EU states and/or UK
• Strong problem-solving skills, ability to manage complex projects and juggle competing priorities
• Demonstrated experience in building and leading culturally diverse and inclusive teams
• Full working rights for United States, United Kingdom, or an EU state (no visa sponsorship available)
