Director of Business Development (Skyward)

Core responsibilities:

• Drive revenue growth by selling long-term lightning forecasting and suppression technologies into target markets including government wildfire agencies and private sector customers
• Develop new business opportunities in greenfield markets, forge partnerships with complementary technology providers, and lead negotiations and contracting
• Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to inform product design and commercialization strategy, and position Skyward as a trusted partner in the wildfire prevention market
• Build and execute sales strategy and pipeline, identify and close complex contracts including government procurement

This role helps tackle the urgent global wildfire challenge by commercializing innovative lightning forecasting and suppression technologies that help governments, utilities, and private sector partners anticipate, mitigate, and respond to lightning-driven wildfire risks.

Required skills and qualifications:

• 7+ years in business development, sales, or partnerships, ideally selling new technology in emergency management, wildfire, defense, public safety, or tech sectors
• Proven track record selling into government agencies, wildfire/emergency management, utilities, or other highly regulated sectors with experience closing multi-year multi-million dollar agreements
• Experience with complex government procurement and enterprise contracting processes, and familiarity with public procurement intricacies
• Business development mindset with skills in entering new categories, opening greenfield markets, and shaping early-stage demand

Compensation: $100,000 - $130,000 CAD base salary plus variable compensation (OTE $220,000 - $250,000 CAD).
