Compliance Officer - Energy Markets

• Ensure compliance with REMITII and other relevant regulations, and maintain accurate registrations with ACER, Nordpool, and TSOs.
• Establish and maintain compliance monitoring tools and controls, and collaborate with risk and operations teams to design controls for new market entries, products, and services.
• Advise on compliance considerations for entering new geographic markets and participating in new markets, and work with cross-border legal teams to harmonize compliance frameworks.
• Verify trade reporting, check trade logs, support regulatory audits, and liaise with regulators, market operators, and other external bodies during inquiries, audits, or investigations.

This role helps Sympower accelerate the global transition towards 'net-zero' by ensuring compliant trading and operational activities in electricity markets, enabling the integration of more distributed renewable energy resources and reducing carbon emissions.

• 3+ years’ experience in compliance within the energy trading sectors, with strong understanding of BESS operations and market participation structures.
• Deep knowledge of European short-term power markets (DA, ID continuous, FCR, aFRR/mFRR, BRP imbalance settlement) and regulatory fluency (REMITII, MiFID II Article 17 & RTS 6, EMIR trade reporting, Nordic and European TSO bidding & compliance rules).
• Experience with trade surveillance tools and compliance monitoring systems, and excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Fluent written & spoken English; additional European languages (e.g., Swedish or Finnish) a plus, with stakeholder skills to challenge traders and leadership constructively and translate quant speak into business language.
