Chief Operating Officer (Deputy Director)

Core responsibilities:

• Advise on financial planning, budgeting, and cash flow; design and manage a three-year operational budget
• Provide leadership for strategic plan implementation and monitor progress; manage operations team and internal processes
• Upgrade and implement systems of policies, internal controls, and accounting standards; analyze technology infrastructure
• Help manage hiring processes including recruitment, job descriptions, onboarding, and performance reviews

This role supports efforts to track and mitigate political violence in the United States, helping build local community resilience and bridge national divides through research, collaboration, and policy response.

Required qualifications:

• BA required, advanced degree preferred; minimum 10 years in progressively senior management roles
• Mission-driven and aligned with BDI's core values; passion for leading social change
• Experience in nonprofit/academic finance and accounting regulations; proven track record in organizational change
• Excellent judgment, problem-solving, mentoring, and management skills; exceptional communication abilities
