Carbon Credit Structuring Expert (Verra Standards - ARR/REDD+) - Freelance Consultant

• Provide expert guidance on structuring carbon credit projects aligned with Verra's Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program requirements
• Advise on application of Verra methodologies, particularly ARR (e.g., VM0047) and REDD+ (e.g., VM0048 and associated modules)
• Assist in developing Project Design Documents (PDDs) and other documentation for Verra validation and verification
• Support navigating Verra project registration and credit issuance processes
• Advise on best practices for monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) systems compliant with Verra standards
• Provide strategic insights on carbon market dynamics, credit pricing, and offtake agreements
• Collaborate with Verdara's internal team and local stakeholders to ensure high-integrity carbon credit generation
• Offer insights into ESG alignment and reporting for carbon projects

This role leverages carbon finance to drive positive environmental and social impact through afforestation initiatives that restore vital ecosystems and empower local communities to thrive.

• Proven track record of successfully structuring and developing carbon credit projects under Verra standards with specific experience in ARR and/or REDD+ projects
• In-depth understanding of Verra's VCS Program, including methodologies (VM0047, VM0048), validation, verification, and registration processes
• Familiarity with latest developments in Verra standards, including updates to ARR methodologies and evolving REDD+ framework
• Experience in quantifying carbon removals/reductions, developing baselines, and demonstrating additionality as per Verra requirements
• Knowledge of international carbon markets, including compliance markets (Article 6 of Paris Agreement) and voluntary carbon market
• Previous experience working with a consulting firm specializing in carbon finance, climate change mitigation, or sustainable land use
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality outputs within agreed timelines
• Degree in environmental science, forestry, climate change, sustainable development, or related field preferred

This is a remote, freelance/contract position with flexible engagement terms. The initial engagement will be on an hourly consulting basis, with potential to transition to project-based fees or retainer agreements based on mutual agreement.
